Introduction to Open Source Content Management Systems

They are all using the Drupal Content Management System to develop and manage their websites!

Come learn what it's all about!

This half-day class is designed to introduce web developers to the advantages of using an Internet Content Management System (CMS). Students will learn about the four top open-source content management systems and learn why the instructor believes Drupal is the leading contender in terms of features, extensibility and relative ease of use. Students will also build a Drupal website, step-by-step.

By the end of this course, learners will:

  • Know how to install and configure a Drupal-based Web site with:
    • a multi-user blog
    • a photo gallery
    • an event calendar
    • multiple static pages
  • Be familiar with key Drupal concepts, including:
    • Installation
    • Content Types
    • Nodes
    • Views
    • Blocks and Regions
    • Users and Roles
  • Leave with a fully-functional Web site that they will know how to deploy

 

This course is designed for individuals who have basic knowledge of HTML and experience with web development.
